About

Before I started teaching, I couldn't wait to be called Ms. [my last name]. I thought, "how cool will it sound to be addressed by a title like that while I'm still 20?" I soon came to realize that they would not often extend the courtesy of adding my last name after "Miss." At first, I just responded because I didn't realize how annoying it would get.

"Hey Miss"; "Miss can you come here;" "C'mon Miss;" or just plain ol' "Miss." And as much as I hate to admit it, just this very minute I looked up to a nice "Yo Miss" said by a young lady. I don't call them "Yo ms." or "hey you mister. Take off your hat and hoodie, sit in a desk not on one, take out your headphones and put your phone away, yo" It's just an old fashion notion called mutual respect that's stuck in my head. When I was in school, a whole approx. 5 years ago, I cared what my teachers thought of me as a young woman. Now, it seems, that idea has expired for whatever reason. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching. It's just that every day I learn something new about my job that I couldn't have learned in college.  It is comforting to hear support from my colleagues.  If you don't receive comfort in your colleagues, then Welcome to my blog.  I hope you find comfort here.  I hope you find real here.

I created this page in hopes of offering advice to next generation middle/high school teachers. In this blog,
I will give advice about:
  • creative teaching ideas
  • worksheet freebies
  • products worth mentioning
  • frugal lifestyle tips
  • anything else that tickles my fancy (and yours... hopefully)
I do not claim to be an expert in anything, but my four years in the school system might be helpful to those just starting off or those who would like to find new ideas. Love it or leave it.
